Aphantasia

Aphantasia is the inability to voluntarily create mental images in your "mind's eye". If you are asked to picture a loved one's face or a red apple, your brain experiences a blank screen instead of a visual. It is a natural cognitive variation, not a disease or disability.

My Approach

What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. I started to research about Aphantasia and found that there was a reason I felt so alone in my creativity.

Memory & Senses

Autobiographical memories (recounting personal events) may rely more on facts and feelings rather than vivid flashbacks. Aphantasia can also extend to other senses (e.g., the inability to voluntarily "hear" music or "smell" coffee in your head).

Emotional Response

Some research indicates aphantasics may experience less stress or emotional reaction when reading scary or highly visceral literature, as they do not mentally visualise the scenarios.
